Have you ever taken a closer look at what’s in disposable diapers? With cloth diapers, you’ll never have to question what’s touching your baby’s delicate skin.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the PureNest™ diaper work?
The PureNest™ diaper is a reusable alternative to disposables. It consists of several layers of absorbent material that soak up liquids, while a waterproof outer layer prevents leaks.
It works just like a regular diaper, but instead of tossing it after one use, you wash and reuse.
What is included in the PureNest™ diaper?
Each diaper comes with:
- A waterproof cover with a pocket for the inserts (the absorbent parts of the diaper)
- Two inserts: one full-size and one newborn-size
- Inserts that can be used separately or together, adapting perfectly to a baby’s changing needs
For what age or size?
Thanks to the adjustable snaps on the front, our diapers grow with your baby, fitting from 6 to 35 lbs. That means you can use the same diapers from newborn through potty training.
How many cloth diapers do I need?
Starting with cloth diapering doesn’t require a huge investment. Many parents begin with just a few diapers and add more over time. Some use cloth alongside disposables, while others switch completely. For a part-time routine, 12–15 diapers usually works well. For full-time cloth diapering, 20–24 diapers keep things covered comfortably.
To put this in perspective, a baby will go through an estimated 6,000–7,000 disposable diapers from birth to potty training
How to remove waste before washing?
It depends on what your baby is eating:
- Exclusively breastfed babies: Breastfed poop is water-soluble, so the diaper can go straight into the wash.
- Babies eating solids: Once your baby starts solids, stool becomes more solid.
If it’s firm enough, simply shake it into the toilet.
Anything in between can be rinsed or swished in the toilet before washing.
After solids are removed, the diaper can be washed as usual.
💡Tip: You can use a biodegradable liner, it looks like a soft tissue and sits inside the diaper to catch solids for easy disposal.
How do I wash cloth diapers?
Remove any solids, store the diapers in a laundry basket or diaper pail, and wash every 2–3 days with a cloth-diaper-safe detergent. Start with a cold rinse, then run a heavy-duty warm wash cycle. Afterwards, line dry or tumble dry on low.
Is cloth diapering more time-consuming?
Many parents find it actually saves time overall: no last-minute store runs, fewer trash bags to take out, and no constant reordering of disposables. Cloth diapering quickly becomes part of a family’s normal laundry rhythm, especially since baby clothes are already being washed regularly. An added bonus is that children in cloth often reach potty training up to one year earlier than those in disposables.
Are cloth diapers hygienic?
Absolutely! Proper washing effectively sanitizes the diapers. Cloth diapers are just as hygienic as disposables, without the added chemicals.
